13 Franklin St Pty Ltd proposed development is to build 6 x SDA approved Fully Accessible Apartments in the Hervey Bay region.
The SDA as part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) began being rolled out in Qld in January 2019 as part of the $700 million guaranteed fund to subsidise the relocation of highly disabled people into specialised purpose built accommodation. The SDA is designed specifically for those a high level of care to assist in their transition out of nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, hospitals and ageing parents homes. It helps promote independence and choice for those who have had no options for accommodation in the past.
It is assumed the property has been designed to meet the NDIS design guidelines set out in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (SpecialisedDisability Accommodation) Rules 2016 compiled at 27 March 2019. The design guidelines have been set out specifically by the NDIS in their paper NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation 20 October 2019.
Once the development is completed, Everhomes will enter into the head lease agreement to manage the property both from an SDA Provider perspective and also as the Property Manager from a Real Estate perspective. Working within Queensland’s Office of the Public Guardian, Everhomes directly advocated for those living with disabilities to have more choice, more choice, more freedom and more control over their environmental needs.
